Learning Technology Consortium – Fall 2018

The Learning Technology Consortium (LTC) is a collaboration among universities with common interests and challenges in learning and teaching with technology. There are 10 institutional members and we are lucky enough to have Wake Forest be one of them.

The LTC meets twice a year at one of our respective schools and in the Fall of 2018, the University of Maryland (UMD), College Park, hosted our group.

The University of Maryland was proud to show off their newest huddle roomaddition to campus, The Edward St. John Learning and Teaching Center (ESJ). The building features twelve new general purpose classrooms and nine state-of-the art chemistry teaching labs, complimented by a wide variety of informal collaborative learning and study spaces throughout the building. All twelve TERP Classrooms are designed to support active-learning/team-based pedagogies.

A presentation was delivered by Hilary Gossett, Academic Affairs & Provost Office, Assistant Director where she talked about the process for creating and deploying standards for active learning classroom redesigns across the institution. The new TERP classrooms have a special request process where faculty have to apply to use the new rooms and get special training on active learning techniques.
